“It’s so simple you don’t need a burning bush to explain it.” – Wendi

When my friend asked if I could write something about why our family chose to sponsor children’s schooling through Rudi International I said yes but honestly wasn’t sure what I would write. I don’t really have a grand story to tell. There was no writing on the wall or a burning bush moment. There was just a post on facebook last year that asked for sponsors and I thought – we can do that.  A couple of clicks later and the money was sent.

The needs of this world can be overwhelming, and the incredible disparity between those who have so much and those who have so little has bothered me since I was a small child and bothers me still. It seems unreal that some are given more than enough and some are given not enough at all. It’s unthinkable that where you happen to be born can be the difference between life and death.

A carpenter from Nazareth once said that if you have two coats you should give one to the person who has none. That’s pretty simple isn’t it? If you’re in the “more than enough” category, give something to someone in the “not enough at all” category.

I have two children. We’ll have a choice to send them to free public education or utilize a private school. Meanwhile, somewhere else on this planet, is a parent or grandparent who doesn’t have either choice. I have extra, they have none. And I can change that equation. I can take from my excess and give where there is a void.

Education should be available to every child. And Rudi International provides us the means to help that “should” become a reality for some amazing kids who absolutely deserve that chance. It’s so simple you don’t need a burning bush to explain it.
