As we reflect on the 2023-2024 school year, we’re humbled by the resilience of our students and the transformative power of education in the face of adversity.
A Year of Challenges and Triumphs
The past year in Goma has been marked by ongoing instability, with armed conflicts leading to widespread displacement and disrupting the education of countless children. Yet, amidst this turbulence, Rudi Education has remained steadfast in its mission to provide quality education and support to the most vulnerable in our community.
Our journey this year has been one of both challenges and remarkable achievements:
- We began the year supporting 32 high school students, implementing a new academic standard requiring a minimum score of 60% to remain in the program.
- By year’s end, 7 dedicated students met this rigorous criterion, showcasing their commitment to excellence despite the odds.
- 2 of our students successfully passed the national EXETAT exams, a testament to their hard work and the quality of support they received.
- Our university program flourished, with 5 students pursuing degrees in engineering, accounting, and computer science.
These numbers tell a story of resilience, determination, and the transformative power of education in even the most challenging circumstances.
Beyond the Classroom: Holistic Support for Our Community
At Rudi Education, we understand that true empowerment extends beyond traditional academics. Over the past few years and more so this year, we’ve expanded our initiatives to provide comprehensive support to our students and the wider community:
- Reading Clubs: Engaging 150 students across four schools, fostering a love for learning and improving literacy skills.
- Free Library at Rudi Elimu Technology Center: Providing a quiet study space and access to educational materials for students, teachers, and community members.
- Computer Skills Training: Offering practical computer classes to partner schools, with 20 students from Institut Saint Pierre already benefiting from this initiative.
- University Guidance: Supporting our high school graduates as they prepare for higher education, ensuring they make informed decisions about their future.
